MASTER WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED/MESSAGE RELATED TO VEHICLE SYSTEM MALFUNCTION INDICATED IN DISPLAY

DESCRIPTION
•  Master warning light illuminated.
•  Message related to vehicle system malfunction indicated on the center display. (With center display)
•  Message related to vehicle system malfunction indicated on the LCD in the instrument cluster. (Type A instrument cluster)
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  PCM DTC is stored.
―  Glow plug malfunction
―  Glow control module malfunction
―  Brake switch malfunction
―  Engine oil solenoid valve malfunction
―  Fuel injector injection amount correction procedure has not been completed (fuel injection amount learning fails)
•  Blow-by heater relay malfunction
•  Blow-by heater malfunction
•  Timing chain malfunction
•  Instrument cluster malfunction

VERIFY PCM DTC
•  Retrieve PCM DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BLOW-BY HEATER RELAY
•  Switch the ignition off.
•  Remove the blow-by heater relay.
•  Inspect the blow-by heater relay.
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the blow-by heater relay, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BLOW-BY HEATER
•  Inspect the blow-by heater.
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the blow-by heater, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT TIMING CHAIN INSTALLATION CONDITION
•  Verify the condition of the timing chain assembly (valve timing, looseness, jumping).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the inspection results.
Assemble the timing chain using the correct timing, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
•  Inspect the instrument cluster.
•  Is the instrument cluster normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the instrument cluster, then go to the next step.
6
Verify the test results.
•  If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms.
•  If the malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Bulletins and/or On-line Repair Information and perform repair or diagnosis.
―  If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting is completed.
―  If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, reprogram the PCM if a later calibration is available. Retest.
