STEERING SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning
•  Handling the driver-side air bag module improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the SRS air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module.(See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM (E)].) (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM (E)].)

1.  Disconnect the negative lead-acid battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE LEAD-ACID BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Driver-side air bag module(See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM (E)].) (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM (E)].)
(2)  Steering wheel bezel (See STEERING WHEEL BEZEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Steering wheel (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(4)  Steering shift switch (With steering shift switch) (See STEERING SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(5)  Steering wheel cover (See STEERING WHEEL COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  While pressing tabs A and tabs B from the back of the steering wheel, move the steering switch in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure to detach tabs A and tabs B from the steering wheel.

4.  Remove the steering switch.

5.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
