Abnormal message from TCM (ATX (FS5A-EL))
DETECTION CONDITION
•  Correct data cannot be received from PCM (MTX, ATX (FN4A-EL))
•  Correct data cannot be received from TCM (ATX (FS5A-EL))
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  PCM malfunction (MTX, ATX (FN4A-EL))
•  TCM malfunction (ATX (FS5A-EL))

Diagnostic procedure (MTX, ATX (FN4A-EL))

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
INSPECT FOR PCM MALFUNCTION
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Are any DTCs detected?
Yes
Go to applicable DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.
2
VERIFY THAT THE SAME DTC IS NOT PRESENT
•  Clear the DTCs from the memory.
•  Are the same DTCs present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
3
VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCS ARE PRESENT
•  Are any other DTCs output?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.

INSPECT FOR TCM MALFUNCTION
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Using the M-MDS, perform the DTC inspection for the TCM.
•  Are any DTCs detected?
Yes
Go to applicable DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.
2
VERIFY THAT THE SAME DTC IS NOT PRESENT
•  Clear the DTCs from the memory.
•  Are the same DTCs present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
If the malfunction recurs, replace the TCM, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
3
VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCS ARE PRESENT
•  Are any other DTCs output?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
