PARKING BRAKE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [CABLE SPLIT TYPE]

1. To remove the parking brake lever and front parking brake cable, remove the console. (See CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
2. If the front and rear parking brake cable is to be removed, perform the following procedure:

3. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
4. Install in the reverse order of removal.
5. After installation, inspect the parking brake lever stroke. (See PARKING BRAKE LEVER INSPECTION.)

End Cable Removal Note
1. Disconnect the rear parking brake cable indicated in the figure, remove the end cable.

Rear Parking Brake Cable Installation Note
1. Install the rear parking brake cable to the parking brake brackets on the vehicle so that rear parking brake cable on the right side of the vehicle runs on top of the rear parking brake cable on the left side of the vehicle as shown in the figure.

2. Pass the rear parking brake cable through the inside of the vehicle from the rear ABS wheel speed sensor wiring harness (disc-brake type).

3. Install the rear parking brake cable clips to the vehicle being careful of the installation direction.
End Cable Installation Note
1. Install the rear parking brake cable to the end cable.
2. Make sure that the end cable tab is caught correctly.

Front Parking Brake Cable Installation Note
1. Apply silicone grease to the grommet areas of the front parking brake cable.
2. Install the front parking brake cable with the mark on the equalizer facing toward the vehicle downside.
