BONNET RELEASE LEVER AND RELEASE CABLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Bonnet Release Lever

1. While pulling the bonnet release lever, insert a remover tool into the position shown in the figure.

2. Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the position shown in the figure and rotate it in the direction of arrow (1) to detach the bonnet release lever from the driver’s side lower panel.

Caution

• Remove the bonnet release lever while being careful not to damage the bonnet release cable with the flathead screwdriver.

3. Disconnect the bonnet release cable from the bonnet release lever.

4. Install in the reverse order of removal.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [MZR 1.6].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)(See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

2. Remove the following parts:

(1) Set plate (See SET PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2) Front bumper (See FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL.)(See FRONT BUMPER INSTALLATION.)

(3) Front combination light (See FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4) Shroud upper member (See SHROUD UPPER MEMBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(5) Front mudguard (Driver's side) (See MUDGUARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(6) Front fender insulator No.1 (See FRONT FENDER INSULATOR No.1 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(7) Bonnet release lever (See Bonnet Release Lever.)

3. Remove the bonnet latch protector. (See BONNET LATCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4. Disconnect the bonnet release cable from the bonnet latch.

5. Remove the bonnet release cable from clip.

6. Press the grommet into the cabin side.

7. Remove the bonnet release cable from the cabin side.

8. Install in the reverse order of removal.
