Description

•  Trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/Liftgate opener switch (5HB, WAGON) circuit malfunction


Detection Condition

•  Short to ground in trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/liftgate opener switch (5HB, WAGON) circuit.


Possible Causes

•  Trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/Liftgate opener switch (5HB, WAGON) connector or terminals malfunction
•  Trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/Liftgate opener switch (5HB, WAGON) malfunction
•  BCM connector or terminals malfunction
•  Short to ground in wiring harness between the following terminals:
―  Trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/Liftgate opener switch (5HB, WAGON) terminal B—BCM terminal 6E
―  Trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/Liftgate opener switch (5HB, WAGON) terminal A—BCM terminal 6A
•  BCM malfunction

•  Clear the DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is the DTC B10D0:11 present?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.

INSPECT TRUNK LID OPENER SWITCH (4SD)/LIFTGATE OPENER SWITCH (5HB, WAGON) CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Disconnect the trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/liftgate opener switch (5HB, WAGON) connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT TRUNK LID OPENER SWITCH (4SD)/LIFTGATE OPENER SWITCH (5HB, WAGON)
•  Inspect the trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/liftgate opener switch (5HB, WAGON).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/liftgate opener switch (5HB, WAGON), then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Disconnect the BCM connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT TRUNK LID OPENER SWITCH (4SD)/LIFTGATE OPENER SWITCH (5HB, WAGON) CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
•  Trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/Liftgate opener switch (5HB, WAGON) and BCM connectors are disconnected.
•  Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground:
―  Trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/Liftgate opener switch (5HB, WAGON) terminal B
―  Trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/Liftgate opener switch (5HB, WAGON) terminal A
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
6
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Clear the DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is the DTC B10D0:11 present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the BCM.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.

•  Keyless control module connector or terminals malfunction
•  BCM connector or terminals malfunction
•  Short to ground in wiring harness between the following terminals:

―  Trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/Liftgate opener switch (5HB, WAGON) terminal B—Keyless control module terminal 3G

•  Keyless control module malfunction

•  Disconnect the keyless control module connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 8.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Disconnect the BCM connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 8.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT TRUNK LID OPENER SWITCH (4SD)/LIFTGATE OPENER SWITCH (5HB, WAGON) CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
•  Trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/Liftgate opener switch (5HB, WAGON), keyless control module and BCM connectors are disconnected.
•  Inspect for continuity between the following terminals (wiring harness-side) and body ground:
―  Trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/Liftgate opener switch (5HB, WAGON) terminal B
―  Trunk lid opener switch (4SD)/Liftgate opener switch (5HB, WAGON) terminal A
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to Step 8.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT KEYLESS CONTROL MODULE
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Measure the voltage at the keyless control module terminal 3G (wiring harness-side).
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the keyless control module, then go to the next step.

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Reconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Clear the DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is the DTC B10D0:11 present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the BCM.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
