DETECTION CONDITION
|
• When all conditions below are satisfied and 100 s or more have passed.
Diagnostic support note:
• This is a continuous monitor (CCM).
• The MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.
• The PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
• FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
• The O/D OFF indicator light illuminates.
• The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
|
• TR switch malfunction
• TR switch misadjustment
• Open circuit in wiring harness between TR switch terminal A and PCM terminal 1N
• Open circuit in wiring harness between TR switch terminal C and PCM terminal 1J
• Open circuit in wiring harness between TR switch terminal D and PCM terminal 1S
• Open circuit in wiring harness between TR switch terminal G and PCM terminal 1L
• Open circuit in wiring harness between TR switch terminal F and PCM terminal 1P
• Open circuit in wiring harness between TR switch terminal N and PCM terminal 1K
• Damaged connector between TR switch and PCM
• PCM malfunction

VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
• Has the FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.

|
VERIFY RELATED SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
• Verify related Service Information availability.
• Is any related Service Information available?
|
Yes
|
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available Service Information.
• If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

|
VERIFY CURRENT INPUT SIGNAL STATUS-IS CONCERN INTERMITTENT OR CONSTANT?
• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (engine OFF).
• Inspect PCM terminal voltages.
(See PCM INSPECTION[L3].)
• Are two or more of following terminal voltage at the same time when shifting selector lever from P position to 1 range?

Yes
|
Adjust the TR switch, then go to Step 9.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

INSPECT TR SWITCH CONNECTOR FOR POOR CONNECTION
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Disconnect the TR switch connector.
• Inspect for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, corrosion).
• Is the connection normal?
|
Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the connector and/or terminals, then go to Step 9.
|

|
INSPECT TR SWITCH
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Inspect for between TR switch terminals.
• Is there continuity?
|
Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Replace the TR switch, then go to Step 9.
|

|
INSPECT TR SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Inspect for continuity between TR switch connector terminal I (wiring harness-side) and body ground.
• Is there continuity?
|
Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the wiring harness, then go to Step 9.
|

|
INSPECT PCM CONNECTOR FOR POOR CONNECTION
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Disconnect the PCM connector.
• Inspect for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, corrosion).
• Is the connection normal?
|
Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the connector and/or terminals, then go to Step 9.
|

|
INSPECT TR SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
• Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
• Inspect for continuity between TR switch connector (wiring harness-side) and PCM connector (wiring harness-side).
• Is there continuity?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the wiring harness, then go to the next step.
|

|
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P0706 COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all the disconnected connectors.
• Clear the DTC from the memory using the M-MDS.
• Drive the vehicle in each range (D, 2, 1 and R) for 100 s or more under the following conditions:
• Is the PENDING CODE present?

Yes
|
Replace the PCM, then go to the next step.
(See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[L3].)
|
No
|
No concern is detected. Go to the next step.
|

|
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
• Perform "After Repair Procedure".
• Is there any DTC present?
|
Yes
|
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
(See DTC TABLE[GF4AX-EL].)
|
No
|
DTC troubleshooting completed.
