Headlight automatic leveling warning light inoperative (Headlight Automatic Leveling Control)

1. Headlight auto leveling system check

Refer to "65.Lighting Control 10J.Troubleshooting(Headlight Automatic Leveling Control) diagnostic system check-headlight auto leveling controls".

2. Headlight automatic leveling warning light illumination check

1) Turn ON the ignition switch.

2) Check the headlight automatic leveling warning light. Does the headlight automatic leveling warning light illuminate?

Yes

Go to Intermittent conditions of lighting control system.

Refer to "224.Lighting Control 37D.Symptom(Headlight Automatic Leveling Control) intermittent conditions of lighting control system".

No

=>Go to Indicator light and warning light illumination check.

3. Indicator light and warning light illumination check

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Turn ON the ignition switch.

3) Check the illumination of the indicator lights and warning lights other than the headlight automatic leveling warning light. Do the indicator lights and warning lights other than the headlight automatic leveling warning light illuminate?

Yes

=>Go to Headlight auto leveling control unit harness connector inspection.

No

=>Go to Fuse inspection.

4. Fuse inspection

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Inspect the following fuses. Is the result normal?

Yes

=>Go to Instrument panel cluster battery power supply circuit inspection.

No

Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows out again, repair the short to ground in the circuit relating to each fuse.

=>Go to Repair verification.

5. Instrument panel cluster battery power supply circuit inspection

1) Disconnect the instrument panel cluster harness connector (B7).

2) Connect a test lamp between the battery power supply circuit of the instrument panel cluster harness connector (pin 1 of B7) and the body ground. Does the test lamp illuminate?

Refer to "LHD Combination Meter" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Combination Meter" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Instrument panel cluster ignition power supply circuit inspection.

No

Repair the open circuit or high resistance in the battery power supply circuit between the METER(+B) 10A fuse and the instrument panel cluster (pin 1 of B7).

=>Go to Repair verification.

6. Instrument panel cluster ignition power supply circuit inspection

1) Connect a test lamp between the ignition power supply circuit of the instrument panel cluster harness connector (pin 2 of B7) and the body ground.

Refer to "LHD Combination Meter" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Combination Meter" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

2) Turn ON the ignition switch. Does the test lamp illuminate?

Yes

=>Go to Instrument panel cluster ground circuit inspection.

No

Repair the open circuit or high resistance in the ignition power supply circuit between the METER(IG1) 5A fuse and the instrument panel cluster (pin 2 of B7).

=>Go to Repair verification.

7. Instrument panel cluster ground circuit inspection

1) Connect a test lamp between the battery power supply circuit and the ground circuit of the instrument panel cluster harness connector (pins 1 and 40 of B7). Does the test lamp illuminate?

Refer to "LHD Combination Meter" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Combination Meter" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Instrument panel cluster harness connector inspection.

No

Repair the open circuit or high resistance in the ground circuit between the instrument panel cluster (pin 4 or 16 of B7) and the body ground.

=>Go to Repair verification.

8. Instrument panel cluster harness connector inspection

1) Inspect for poor connections at the instrument panel cluster harness connector (pins 1, 2, and 40 of B7). Is the connection status normal?

Refer to "LHD Combination Meter" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Combination Meter" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Instrument panel cluster replacement.

No

Repair the connections as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

9. Headlight auto leveling control unit harness connector inspection

1) Inspect for poor connections at the headlight auto leveling control unit harness connector (pins 1, 2, 3, 15, and 16 of C99). Is the connection status normal?

Refer to "LHD Headlight Leveling (Auto Leveling)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Headlight auto leveling control unit replacement.

No

Repair the connections as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

10. Headlight auto leveling control unit replacement

Refer to "9.Body, Cab, Accessories 9Z.Body, Cab, Accessories Electrical Control headlight auto leveling control unit removal".

Refer to "9.Body, Cab, Accessories 9Z.Body, Cab, Accessories Electrical Control headlight auto leveling control unit installation".

Procedure completion

=>Go to Repair verification.

11. Instrument panel cluster replacement

Procedure completion

=>Go to Repair verification.

12. Repair verification

1) Reconnect all of the disconnected fuses and harness connectors.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Check the headlight automatic leveling warning light. Does the headlight automatic leveling warning light illuminate?

Yes

The system is normal.

No

=>Go to Indicator light and warning light illumination check.
