Procedure completion

=>Go to Current DTC check.

3. Current DTC check

1) Connect the scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.

3) Start the engine and operate the vehicle in the D range 2nd gear.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to Sensor harness inspection.

No

Go to Intermittent conditions of automatic transmission.

Refer to "206.Transmission, Transaxle 19D.Symptom(AWR6B45) Intermittent conditions of automatic transmission".

4. Sensor harness inspection

1) Inspect all the circuits connecting to the turbine speed sensor (pins 1 and 2 of E44) and the output speed sensor (pins 1 and 2 of E43) for the following. Is the result normal?

  • Too close to the wiring or parts of the fuel injection system
  • Too close to any electronic device that was additionally installed

Refer to "LHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Individual harness connector inspection.

No

Repair as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

5. Individual harness connector inspection

1) Inspect for poor connections at the turbine speed sensor harness connector (pins 1 and 2 of E44). Is the result normal?

2) Inspect for poor connections at the output speed sensor harness connector (pins 1 and 2 of E43). Is the result normal?

3) Inspect for poor connections at the TCM harness connector (pins 1, 2, 7, and 8 of E6). Is the result normal?

Refer to "LHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "LHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

4) Are all of the results normal?

Yes

=>Go to Sensor inspection.

No

Repair the connections as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

6. Sensor inspection

1) Inspect the turbine speed sensor and output speed sensor for the following. Is the result normal?

  • Damaged sensor
  • Loose or improperly installed sensor
  • Excessive clearance
  • Foreign material passing between the turbine speed sensor and the direct clutch assembly and forward clutch assembly
  • Foreign material passing between the output speed sensor and the parking lock gear
  • Damaged direct clutch assembly and forward clutch assembly and parking lock gear

Yes

=>Go to Line pressure test.

No

Repair as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

7. Line pressure test

1) Perform the line pressure test. Is the line pressure within the specified range?

Refer to "206.Transmission, Transaxle 19C.Functional Inspection(AWR6B45) measurement of the automatic transmission operating pressure".

Yes

=>Go to Solenoid inspection.

No

Repair as necessary.
