DETECTION CONDITION
|
• Exhaust gas pressure or boost pressure of estimated value or more is detected
Diagnostic support note
• This is a continuous monitor (CCM).
• The check engine light illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
• FREEZE FRAME DATA/Snapshot data is available.
• DTC is stored in the PCM memory.

FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION
|
• Prevents a combustion pressure increase by closing the intake shutter valve.
• Prevents a combustion pressure increase by limits fuel injection amount.
|
POSSIBLE CAUSE
|
• Oil suction into combustion chamber
• Fuel injector No.1 to No.4 malfunction
• Turbocharger malfunction
• Variable turbine geometry turbocharger actuator position sensor malfunction
• Variable turbine geometry turbocharger actuator malfunction
• Exhaust gas pressure sensor No.1 malfunction
• MAP sensor malfunction
• PCM malfunction

VERIFY OTHER RELATED DTCs
• Switch the ignition OFF, and then switch it ON (engine off).
• Display the DTCs using the M-MDS.
• Has any DTC other than P2106:00 been stored?

Yes
|
If DTC P1142:00 or P004A:00 is stored:
• Go to the next step.
If DTC other than P1142:00 or P004A:00 is stored:
• Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

No
|
Go to the next step.

|
VERIFY AVERAGE DISTANCE INTERVAL OF diesel particulate filter REGENERATION TO DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION IS CAUSED BY INJECTOR SYSTEM
• Perform the following procedure:
• Is the average value of the diesel particulate filter regeneration interval 140 km or more?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Replace the fuel injector, then go to Step 12.
|

|
DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION IS CAUSED BY TURBOCHARGER
• Switch the ignition OFF.
• Switch the ignition ON (engine on).
• Display PID VGTURB_ACT and simulation item VGTURB_DSD using the M-MDS.
• Operate the turbocharger with variable geometry using the simulation item VGTURB_DSD.
• Does PID VGTURB_ACT change according to the simulation operation.

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Replace the turbocharger, then go to Step 14.
|

|
VERIFY IF METAL FRAGMENTS PENETRATED ENGINE OIL
• Drain the engine oil.
• Are there metal fragments in the drained engine oil?

Yes
|
Replace or overhaul the engine as a partial engine.
Refer to the engine workshop manual.
Go to Step 12.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

Remove any engine oil in the piston cavity.
• Perform the following procedure:

INSPECT ENGINE COMPRESSION PRESSURE
• Inspect the engine compression pressure.
• Is the engine compression pressure normal?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location, then go to Step 12.
|

|
VERIFY CHARGE AIR COOLER CONDITION
• Verify the charge air cooler condition.
• Is there any engine oil in the charge air cooler inlet pipe or the charge air cooler outlet pipe?
|
Yes
|
Remove any engine oil in the charge air cooler with a cloth, then go to Step 12.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.

|
VERIFY CONDITION OF BOTTOM SURFACE IN INTAKE MANIFOLD
• Verify the condition of the bottom surface in the intake manifold.
• Is there any engine oil on the bottom in the intake manifold?

Yes
|
Remove any engine oil on the bottom in the intake manifold with a cloth, then go to the next step.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

|
INSPECT MAP SENSOR
• Reconnect all the disconnected connectors.
• Inspect the MAP sensor.
• Is the MAP sensor normal?
|
Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Replace the MAP sensor, then go to the next step.
|

|
INSPECT EXHAUST GAS PRESSURE SENSOR NO.1
• Reconnect all the disconnected connectors.
• Inspect exhaust gas pressure sensor No.1.
• Is exhaust gas pressure sensor No.1 normal?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Replace exhaust gas pressure sensor No.1, then go to the next step.
|

|
PERFORM COMPULSORY diesel particulate filter REGENERATION AND BURN OUT ENGINE OIL IN diesel particulate filter
• Perform compulsory diesel particulate filter regeneration.
• Perform applicable DTC troubleshooting then perform compulsory diesel particulate filter regeneration.

Go to the next step.

|
VERIFY ENGINE OIL LEVEL
• Verify the engine oil level.
• Is the oil level above the X on the gauge?
|
Yes
|
Replace the engine oil.
Implement the engine oil data reset procedure.
Go to the next step.

No
|
Go to the next step.
|

|
VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
• Reconnect all disconnected connectors and hoses.
• Refer to the [MEMORY CLEARING PROCEDURE] and clear the DTC.
• Start the engine and drive the vehicle under the freeze frame data/snapshot data condition.
• Display the DTCs using the M-MDS.
• Has DTC P2106:00 been recorded?

Yes
|
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
• If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM, then go to the next step.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.

|
VERIFY OTHER DTCs
• Has any other DTC or pending code been stored?
|
Yes
|
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
|
No
|
Referring to each adjustment procedure, perform fuel injection amount learning and the diesel particulate filter data reset.
DTC troubleshooting completed.
