Note
-
• The electric parking brake control module records the vehicle specification information and the electric parking brake operation/release condition.
• A new electric parking brake control module does not record the vehicle specification information and the electric parking brake operation/release condition.
• When the ignition is switched ON (engine off or on) after replacing the electric parking brake control module, the module reads and records the vehicle specification information sent via CAN communication from the instrument cluster.
• When the electric parking brake is operated/released after replacing the electric parking brake control module, the module checks the related parts and records the electric parking brake operation/release condition.
1. Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
2. Release the electric parking brake.
3. Switch the ignition off.
4. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

-
-
- (5) Operate the electric parking brake and perform the related parts check.
-
- (6) Release the electric parking brake.
-
- (7) Verify that the electric parking brake indicator light and the electric parking brake warning light turn off.
-
-
• If the electric parking brake indicator light and the electric parking brake warning light do not turn off, perform a DTC inspection because an electric parking brake malfunction may have occurred. (See
DTC INSPECTION [ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE].)
- (8) Operate the electric parking brake again.
-
- (9) Verify that the electric parking brake indicator light turns on and the electric parking brake warning light turns off.
