QUARTER WINDOW GLASS REMOVAL

Replacement parts

1.  Disconnect the negative lead-acid battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE LEAD-ACID BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the following parts.

(1)  Rear package tray (See REAR PACKAGE TRAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2)  Trunk side upper trim (See TRUNK SIDE UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3)  Rear pillar trim (See REAR PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4)  Scuff plate (See SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(5)  Rear seat cushion (See REAR SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  When replacing the quarter window glass (LH), perform the following procedure.

(1)  Remove the rear buckle (LH). (See REAR BUCKLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2)  Remove the rear center seat belt anchor. (See REAR BUCKLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the following parts.

(1)  Rear seat back (See REAR SEAT BACK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2)  Tire house trim(See TIRE HOUSE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

(3)  Pillar garnish (See PILLAR GARNISH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Cut the quarter window glass molding.

6.  Apply protective tape along the edges of the body panel and quarter window glass.

Note

•  Overlap and apply the protective tape to the corners to prevent damage to the body panel.

7.  Cut the end of the piano wire diagonally.

Warning

•  Using piano wire with bare hands can cause injury. Always wear gloves when using piano wire.

8.  Pass the piano wire from the cabin side through the sealant.

9.  Wind each end of the piano wire around a bar.

Note

•  Since the piano wire can easily break if it is heated locally, cool it or change the area used as you cut the sealant.

10.  Secure one end of the piano wire and cut the quarter window glass sealant and the pin as you pull the other end of the piano wire.

11.  Remove the quarter window glass.

12.  Remove the pin from the body panel.

13.  Remove the fasteners.
