MIDDLE ROOF PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1.  Using the retractable hardtop switch, keep the front roof half-open.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Selector lever knob (AT) (See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2)  Shift lever knob (MT)

(3)  Shift panel assembly (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4)  Upper panel (See UPPER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(5)  Parking brake lever boot panel (See PARKING BRAKE LEVER BOOT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(6)  Rear console (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(7)  Scuff plate (See SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(8)  Wind blocker (See WIND BLOCKER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(9)  Front seat back bar garnish (See SEAT BACK BAR GARNISH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(10)  Quarter trim (See QUARTER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(11)  Tire house trim (See TIRE HOUSE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(12)  Back trim (See BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(13)  Rear side trim (See REAR SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the seat belt retractor installation bolts and set aside the seat belt retractor. (See SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Remove the lock bracket. (See LOCK BRACKET REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

6.  Remove the retractable hardtop control module from the seat back crossmember assembly and set it aside so that it does not interfere with the servicing. (See RETRACTABLE HARDTOP CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

7.  Remove the seat back crossmember assembly. (See SEAT BACK CROSSMEMBER ASSEMBLY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

8.  Remove the roof link assembly. (See ROOF LINK ASSEMBLY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

9.  Remove the rear window glass. (See REAR WINDOW GLASS REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

10.  Remove the middle roof link cover. (See MIDDLE ROOF LINK COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

11.  Remove the middle headliner. (See MIDDLE HEADLINER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

12.  Place alignment marks on the roof link and the middle roof panel.

Note

•  Verify the number of shims because it differs depending on the installation position.

13.  Remove the bolts.

14.  Remove the middle roof panel.

15.  Remove the nuts.

16.  Remove the middle roof weatherstrip.

17.  Install in the reverse order of removal. (See Middle Roof Panel Installation Note.)

Middle Roof Panel Installation Note

1.  Install the shim according to the number verified prior to removal.

2.  Install the middle roof panel with the alignment marks aligned.

3.  Perform the retractable hardtop adjustment. (See RETRACTABLE HARDTOP ADJUSTMENT.)
