SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR No.2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM (E)]

Warning
•  Handling the side air bag sensor No.2 improperly may cause the air bag to activate (deploy) unexpectedly, which may cause an injury. Read the SRS air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling side air bag sensor No.2.(See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM (E)].)(See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM (E)].)
Note
•  The SRS air bag system can be identified by whether or not the seat track position sensor is present.
―  Standard deployment control system: Without seat track position sensor
―  Two-step deployment control system: With seat track position sensor

1.  Switch the main power OFF.

2.  Disconnect the negative lead-acid battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE LEAD-ACID BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Scuff plate (See SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(2)  Rear package tray (See REAR PACKAGE TRAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Trunk side upper trim (See TRUNK SIDE UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(4)  Rear pillar trim (See REAR PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(5)  Rear seat cushion (See REAR SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(6)  Rear seat back (See REAR SEAT BACK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(7)  Tire house trim(See TIRE HOUSE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

4.  While pressing in the shaded area A, move the connector in the direction of arrow (1).

5.  While pressing in the shaded area B, move the connector in the direction of arrow (2) to disconnect it.

6.  Remove the bolts.

7.  Remove the side air bag sensor No.2.

8.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

9.  Switch the main power ON (READY off or on).

10.  Verify that the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light turns on for approx. 6 s and turns off.

•  If the air bag/pre-tensioner warning light does not work properly, verify the DTCs. (See DTC INSPECTION.)
