DTC P242F

Diesel particulate filter restriction - ash accumulation

DETECTION CONDITION
•  The PCM monitors the exhaust gas pressure before and after the diesel particulate filter, using the diesel particulate filter differential sensor. If the differential pressure exceeds the threshold calculated from the exhaust gas flow for a continuous 7 s, the PCM determines that the diesel particulate filter is restricted by ash.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Scheduled maintenance does not have followed
•  Loose or poor installation particulate filter differential pressure sensor downstream side
•  Particulate differential pressure sensor malfunction
•  Exhaust gas leakage after diesel particulate filter
•  Air leakage from intake-air system
•  MAF sensor malfunction
•  Base engine malfunction
•  EGR system malfunction
•  EGR throttle valve malfunction
•  Diesel particulate filter restriction and/or damaged
•  PCM malfunction
