DTC U0064[88] CAN Communication Malfunction (CAN 3 Bus Off) (Central GateWay)

Note

  • The installed devices vary depending on the vehicle. All the devices that may be connected to the CAN communication circuit are shown in the diagnostic procedure. Perform diagnosis only for the applicable device procedure.

1. Body control system check

Refer to "64.Body Control 10I.Troubleshooting(Central GateWay) diagnostic system check - central gateway controls".

2. Current DTC check

1) Connect the scan tool.

2) Turn ON the ignition switch.

3) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to Control panel inspection.

No

Go to Intermittent conditions of body control system.

3. Control panel inspection

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the control panel harness connector (B10).

Refer to "LHD Controller Area Network (Central Gateway C/U)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Controller Area Network (Central Gateway C/U (4JJ3 with DPD))" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Controller Area Network (Central Gateway C/U (4JJ3 without DPD, RZ4E))" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool for DTC U0064[88] being set as a current failure. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to Instrument panel cluster inspection.

No

=>Go to Control panel replacement.

4. Instrument panel cluster inspection

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the instrument panel cluster harness connector (B7).

Refer to "RHD Controller Area Network (Central Gateway C/U (4JJ3 with DPD))" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Controller Area Network (Central Gateway C/U (4JJ3 without DPD, RZ4E))" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool for DTC U0064[88] being set as a current failure. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to BCM inspection.

No

=>Go to Instrument panel cluster replacement.

5. BCM inspection

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the BCM harness connector (B18).

Refer to "RHD Controller Area Network (Central Gateway C/U (4JJ3 with DPD))" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool for DTC U0064[88] being set as a current failure. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to Wireless access module inspection.

No

=>Go to BCM replacement.

6. Wireless access module inspection

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the wireless access module harness connector (B13 or B15).

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool for DTC U0064[88] being set as a current failure. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to Headlight auto leveling control unit inspection.

No

=>Go to Wireless access module replacement.

7. Headlight auto leveling control unit inspection

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the headlight auto leveling control unit harness connector (C99).

Refer to "RHD Controller Area Network (Central Gateway C/U (4JJ3 with DPD))" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool for DTC U0064[88] being set as a current failure. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to Body CAN communication circuit inspection.

No

=>Go to Headlight auto leveling control unit replacement.

8. Body CAN communication circuit inspection

1) Inspect the Body CAN communication circuit for the following. Is the result normal?

  • Open circuit or high resistance
  • Short together between circuits
  • Short to battery or short to ignition power supply circuit
  • Short to ground

Yes

=>Go to Central gateway control unit replacement.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

9. Control panel replacement

  • Perform programming after replacing the control panel.

1) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
