SHROUD PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Caution

•  Since the servicing is performed with the bonnet open, secure the bonnet using a piece of wood to prevent it from falling.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Set plate (See SET PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2)  Front bumper (See FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3)  Front combination light (See FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4)  Horn (See HORN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(5)  Shroud upper member (See SHROUD UPPER MEMBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(6)  Intake air guide (See INTAKE AIR GUIDE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(7)  Front energy-absorbing foam (See ENERGY-ABSORBING FOAM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(8)  Front under cover No.1 (See FRONT UNDER COVER No.1 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(9)  Bumper stiffener lower (See BUMPER STIFFENER LOWER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(10)  Charge air cooler (with charge air cooler) (See CHARGE AIR COOLER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T].) (See CHARGE AIR COOLER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

3.  Remove the bolts. (with charge air cooler)

4.  Remove the brackets. (with charge air cooler)

5.  Support the shroud panel using a jack.

Caution

•  Because the shroud panel is installed to the front bumper reinforcement, support the shroud panel using a jack before removing the front bumper reinforcement so as not to apply excessive force to the shroud panel.

6.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Front bumper reinforcement (See FRONT BUMPER REINFORCEMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2)  Active air shutter (with active air shutter system) (See ACTIVE AIR SHUTTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3)  Bonnet latch (See BONNET LATCH AND RELEASE LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4)  Crash zone sensor (See CRASH ZONE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) (See CRASH ZONE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)

(5)  Ambient temperature sensor (See AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(6)  Radar unit (with mazda radar cruise control (MRCC) system) (See RADAR UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

7.  Remove wiring harness clips A, B, C and D.

8.  Remove the bonnet stay from the shroud panel.

9.  Wrap the bonnet stay with protective tape, move the bonnet stay in the direction of the arrow and install it as shown in the figure to support the bonnet.

10.  Pull up the radiator in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure.

Warning

•  Removing the shroud panel without supporting it could cause the shroud panel to fall and cause serious injury. Always perform the procedure with at least another person to prevent the shroud panel from falling.

11.  Pull down the shroud panel in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure, then remove it from the radiator mount guides.

12.  Remove the shroud panel in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure.

Caution

•  Support the lower surface of the radiator with a jack to prevent the radiator from falling off after the shroud panel is removed.

13.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

14.  Adjust the headlight aiming. (See HEADLIGHT AIMING.)
